Can I use my books during Non-Proctored Exams?

Short Answer : NO

Although there is little to nothing we can do to ensure you do not use your text or notes. We believe that this is counterproductive. Chapter Quizzes and Exams are Complete online via an honor system. Cadets are expected to create their own testing like conditions ( no smoking during examination, talking, music, disruptions such as phone calls or TV). Once you begin you may not save the examination and return to it at a later date.

Exams are timed giving you 1 minute per question to answer it and move onto the next question. individuals are expected to not use text books. Following this criteria will help to assist you in preparing for the NREMT cognitive written computer based exam and to succeed the 1st time they take the NREMT written exam at the Pearson View Test Site.

Are the chapter outlines, powerpoints and flashcards on the jblearning.com website just extras?

Yes. Those are all additional teaching tools that each student can use to their advantage.

Where are the clinical rotations performed?

How long are clinical rotation shifts?

Shifts can be 8, 12 or 16 hours and sometimes run long. They usually start at 0700, 1000, or 1500 hours.

Can I complete clinical rotations where I live or where I work?

Yes and NO

The NREMT requires all EMS Education Programs to be approved by the State they are operated in and each individual class to adhere to that States requirement. The Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Compliance Rule and Regulations require that all clinical rotations be completed in Texas. And that a written and approved clinical agreement be in effect between the Academy and the Hospital, Urgent Care Clinic, EMS Service or other relevant clinical sites.

We are willing to work with other agencies throughout Texas and will discuss option with individuals upon registration for the course. We do not guarantee that new clinical agreements can be achieved for students to complete their clinical rotations. If you require a location other than sites currently available and wish to seek approval for a different clinical site please discuss this with the program coordinator prior to enrolling and starting the course. Also ensure that you discuss this with your employer or site you are requesting first to explore their willingness to participate in becoming a clinical site for our program.

How do I know the program is credentialed with the state of Texas?

The Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Compliance approves all EMS Education Programs perTexas Administrative Code 157.32, EMS Education and Course Approval.Additionally all EMS courses are approved with an individual course approval # 30 days prior to the start of the class. These requirements then allow all successful candidates who complete our course and receive a Course Completion Certificate to apply to take the NREMT Exam and become National Registry EMT certified.Once NREMT certification is achieved then the individual may complete the application process to become State certified in the State of their choice. Each state has different rules for more information pleasehttps://www.nremt.org/nremt/about/emt_cand_state_offices.asp.

Our Continuing Education Program # is 600113 and our EMS Education Program # is 600020. To verify the status of the program at any time please visithttps://vo.dshs.state.tx.us/datamart/searchByLicNumberTXRAS.doenter the license # and the online search can verify the programs status.

If you have any questions about the programs approval to provide EMS courses please contact Raul Guerrero, EMS Specialist

What is the schedule for Skills and Clinical Rotations?

Our Motto is "Training When and Where YOU Need IT on YOUR Schedule"

Upon completion of your Didactic Program Midterm you should contact the Coordinator to request a skills and clinical rotation schedule. Please provide 2 weeks advanced notice to request skills/clinical dates.

How long are classes?

UPDATED 11/12/13

Course are available based on the individuals schedule, amount of work and hours you choose to apply to the program.
Individuals must start their course work within 15 calendar days from date of registration. Failure to do so, will result in the individual to be recycled into a new course number with an administrative fee of $150.00.

EMT

Course can be completed in a minimum of 3 weeks. Maximum time allowed is 6 months. Course Start Date is based on the first date the Cadet accesses the online course and ends no later than 6 months * from the start date.

AEMT

Course maximum hours based on Standard Track is 260 hours in total which means the course could be completed in 5 weeks minimum if individual spent 8 hours each day working on program components. Maximum time allowed to complete the AEMT course will 9 months. Course start date will be based on first date the student logs in and begins course work on JB Learning Center and will end 9 months * from the start date.

*NOTE each course has a course number issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Compliance Division. The course number has a definitive expiration date. This means if course number expires Dec. 31,2013 then the Cadet must complete the course NLT (no later than) that date regardless of the maximum time allowed as stated above. This will be discussed at the time the individual registers if it requires discussion.

Examples below are based on a Maximum course time allowed of 9 months for the AEMT Program

Example A : Cadet registers for course on Feb 1, 2013 u2013Course End date would be October 31,2013
Example B : Cadet registers on September 4, 2013- Course End date would be December 31,2013 ( which is only 4 months) however the course
number enrolled in expires 12/31/2013 so all course work depends on the DSHS expiration date.
Example C : Cadet registers September 1, 2013 and does not log in and start program until October 25,2013- Course still ends December 31,2013

*Failure to log into online access portion of program due to not ordering books or any other reason unrelated to course website technical issues.
**IF the individual wishes to have the maximum amount of time allowed to complete course then they will be required to wait until they can enroll under a
new course number and wait for the new class to start.
